Talking Trends: Here’s To The Roaring 2020’s

According to trend analyst Phil Pond, a director of Scarlet Opus, once the clock strikes midnight on December 31, we’ll be entering a brand new era of the Roaring ‘20s, with glitz and glamour defining the decade. “We will be letting go of the past decade and moving into times where things are more ordered, controlled and glamorous, even if it is only surface deep,” he told GiftsandHome.net

“We’ve called the trend The Traveller,” explains Phil. “It’s reflective of times gone by and will be brilliant for merchandising and fantastic for PR and social content.”

He continues: “We predict that it will be a very sumptuous, glitzy Christmas with beautiful formal table settings. In tableware for example, glassware will be dipped and sprayed with brass making it look very glamorous. There will also be lots of Gatsby style 1920’s New Year’s Eve parties, so look out for glitzy jewellery and hair accessories!”

Phil adds that followers of the trend will be daring to look ahead with optimism to a calmer more stable era. “Fairness is central to the agenda with, hopefully, an era of transparency and clarity beginning. It’s about restoring balance, order and correctness, and it could see more of us wanting to ‘buy British’ too.

A very dark, inky indigo blue will be the trend’s stand out colour, with grey continuing to be dominant. However, there will also be a resurgence of brown which, along with orange, will be hitting the catwalks in the Spring.

Top: Move over Jay Gatsby. There’s a new Roaring ‘20s emerging.
