Lights, Camera, Action!

With physical trade shows still unable to take place in the UK, and with more companies deciding to use videos as part of their marketing, British artisan designer Julie Dodsworth recently created a promotional video to showcase her new products and designs, with her licensing and retail partners very much in mind.

See the video in full below.

“Exhibiting at trade shows is a great way to get instant feedback on products and designs from our customers,” explains Julie, whose business model is a blended one, mixing licensing with her own product development and wholesale business “But with that not possible this year, I thought creating a film to introduce our new designs would be the next best thing.”

The film, which has been widely distributed, has resulted in several orders from retailers. Additionally, several new licensees have come on board including Deva Designs  for giftwrap and gift bags, while My Gifts Trade has added new designs to its existing collection.

Julie has also recently worked with Kew Gardens and The Woodland Trust to create bespoke designs which feature on products sold exclusively in their retail outlets.

Ian Downes, managing director of Start Licensing, which is handling the programme in the UK, comments: “Julie really knows her audience well as she has a direct dialogue with retail buyers. Investing in a bespoke promotional film was a smart move from Julie that has been rewarded with increased orders.”
