A Trio Of Trends At Ambiente

Three ‘zones’ – shaped + softened, precise + architectural and artistical + diversewere dedicated to trends at Frankfurt’s Ambiente which closed its doors earlier this week on February 11. “The trends area hopefully helped our visitors to prepare thoroughly for the coming business year,” stated the show’s vice president Nicolette Naumann.

The shaped + softened trend featured a neutral palette of reduced colours featuring white and shades of grey, with smooth surfaces – either soft or textured – and glass that was either satin or transparent.

In precise + architectural, the focus was on industrialism, which has been added to high-quality materials. There were tones of brick and cement, as well as rusty burnished nuances and lots of green. There was also a strong emphasis on material aesthetics, that included terrazzo, polished or blackened wood, glass, steel and bronze, and surfaces with a matte finish or a subdued gloss effect. These harmonised with leather and heavy textiles, as well as with geometric designs and mottled patterns.

A third trend was artistical + diverse, with a colour palette featuring bright orange, raspberry, milky hues, strong honey and sky blue. As well as diverse combinations, there was also a combination of craft and digital technology. The trend also featured unusual manufacturing processes, unconventional themes and special shapes.
