Seven Days To Go To The Glittering Gift Awards

With The Gift Awards just seven days away, (Thursday 12 May), the fabulous, colourful tickets, designed and produced by The Seed Card Company, have already started arriving through guests’ letterboxes. The unique design features a laser-cut outer yellow flower, and a  laser-cut orange inner flower with flowering petals, which reveal a plantable seed card. This lifts up  – and tears out to be planted –  to reveal an exquisite, multi-foiled ticket.

Explains The Seed Card Company’s co-owner and director Jit Patel: “The inspiration for the design came from the beginnings of The Seed Card Company. We launched our business with wildflower seed cards, so what better way to pay homage, to this and showcase what we can achieve, by creating a flowering ticket. To add to this, we injected a bold splash of colour to reflect our own personalities.”

The Seed Card Company was officially launched by husband and wife Kay and Jit Patel, along with a dear friend, Lewis Stevenson, in February 2021. The trio decided to pool their extensive backgrounds in design and print to provide an eco-alternative to the stationery world, offering a range of eco-friendly plantable seed card greetings cards, personal stationery and wedding suites.

Explains Kay: “Collectively, we live and breathe design and print processes, both traditional and cutting-edge new technology, and all run successful businesses away from The Seed Card Company. Jit and I own bespoke stationery company Intricate Creations, where we have been working with seed card for over seven years, and Lewis co-owns fine stationery company Leeming Brothers.”

Continues Kay:  “We have the pleasure to work with some of the world’s finest clients, including celebrities and Royalty, so using our vast knowledge of creating unique and memorable stationery for these clients, we injected some of the showmanship into the official tickets to give the gift world a glimpse of what we have the pleasure to do on a daily basis.”

She says that design inspiration comes from everywhere, “from when we were younger and the TV programmes we used to watch, to our surroundings and elements we personally love ourselves. Our Continuous collection, launched last year, was inspired by the pandemic – a continuous line that has a beginning and an end. However, the line is not straight, just like life is never straight forward – full of ups and downs and plenty of roundabouts!”

Kay added: “watch this space, we are only just getting warned up. Wildflower seed cards are just phase one of our ambitious plans. Vegetables, herbs and a much wider product line up are all in the works. including a gift arm which we aim to launch in 2023.”

Meanwhile, the Seed Card’s newest launches, which include Neon Brights and Wild Words, will be unveiled at Progressive Greetings Live, which takes place at London’s Business Design Centre on 7-8 June.

The winners of the inaugural The Gift Awards will be announced at London’s Royal Lancaster hotel on 12 May. At the lavish awards event, both gift product excellence and retail prowess will be recognised and rewarded.
