Happy News For Illustrator Emily Coxhead

It was extremely happy news for designer and illustrator Emily Coxhead recently, when she found herself on The Independent newspaper’s Happy List 2018.

Emily is the founder and editor of The Happy Newspaper, a quarterly publication devoted to happy and uplifting news, which shares positive news and promotes all things inspiring, motivational and fun. She runs it from a tiny room in her home, with the support of a handful of volunteers.

The Independent’s Happy List, in partnership with JustGiving, highlights inspirational heroes and heroines who deserve to be celebrated for their kindness, courage and selflessness.

Recently, Widdop and Co launched the company’s first range of The Happy News licensed giftware. “The Happy News captures the current zeitgeist, connecting with audiences of all ages,” commented Widdop’s director Stephen Illingworth. “The mix of colourful, fresh illustrations and heartfelt text is a dynamic combination. We’re thrilled to be part of the next exciting chapter of Emily’s journey.”

Gift items include necklaces, mugs, iron on patches and travel accessories. Taking inspiration from the ‘90s, quirky touches and illustrations feature Emily’s bright, positive outlook to sprinkle a bit of happiness.

Emily launched The Happy News in 2015.
