“Qalara is a forward-thinking company that aligns with our own and our members’ ethos,” explains the GA’s ceo Sarah Ward. “The company’s commitments to sustainable and ethical sourcing are a huge draw to us and will be for the benefit of our members. With an exciting vision planned for the future, we are looking forward to working more closely together.”

Showing support for the UK home and gift industry, Qalara is sponsoring the Gift of the Year’s Best Home & Garden Product or Range category at The Gift Awards 2023, with all winners – both the Gift of the Year and The Greats gift retailer awards – revealed at the black-tie awards event, to be held at the glittering Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Thursday 11 May. The Gift Awardsstrongly resonate with Qalara’s mission to reward, endorse and acknowledge product innovation and excellence.

Qalara is further supporting the event by supplying journals for all guests attending the Awards, featuring a handspun, handloom woven Tusser wild silk cover sourced from the weaver community in Bhagalpur, situated on the Southern banks of India’s Ganges river. The pages are made from high quality handmade paper, crafted by artisans.

“Our vision is to be pivotal to driving sustainable consumption, without compromising affordability and efficiency in the supply chain,” states Aditi Pany, ceo of Qalara, and an alumna of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She has previously launched and led a $500m fashion e-commerce business before founding Qalara, which is backed by a Fortune 100 company and India’s largest retailer. As a solo woman entrepreneur, Aditi says that she is excited to collaborate and connect with fellow entrepreneurs to strengthen ties with British companies, especially as we look forward to a UK-India Free Trade Agreement in 2023.
