Granny Chic Trending Stateside

According to Rosanna Bowles, president of multi award winning, American gift-led tableware company Rosanna Inc., (currently celebrating its 40th anniversary), you don’t have to be a granny to appreciate the ‘grandmillennial’ trend that’s been sweeping the US.

Millennials in their ‘20s and ‘30s are craving vintage, retro designs – timeless products that are cosy and comfortable – based on the designs of the past, but with a contemporary twist.

“The granny chic trend reflects the layering of vintage pieces, mixing and matching products with integrity,” Rosanna told GiftsandHome.net. “It’s about quality items for the home that reflect design elements from the past, their heritage and their back story while, at the same time, being very on trend.”

Urban Heirlooms is part of Rosanna’s Winter 2022 collection, with the design featuring antique fabrics sourced in England and France, some dating back to the 1700s.

Explains Rosanna: “Tableware is hugely popular in the US at the moment. Covid changed things, to include more people continuing to work from home and therefore needing different types of tableware for different meals during the day. Plus, with more and more Americans currently enjoying cocooning, people are choosing to entertain at home, with a renewed ‘coming back to the table’ experience, especially when there’s a special occasion to celebrate. Therefore serveware, pasta bowls, glassware and appetiser plates are all currently big news, most especially those featuring the granny chic design.”

With her designs distributed in over 15 countries, Rosanna works with some of the world’s largest companies and organisations including Macy’s, Starbucks, Nordstrom, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Smithsonian Institute, The National September 11 Memorial & Museum and The White House Historical Association.
