Shop For Britain Campaign

Bira has teamed up with the Daily Mirror, which is bringing back its Shop For Britain campaign, to urge shoppers to return to their local independent retailers once lockdown has been lifted. The newspaper is running the campaign ahead of the reopening of non-essential retail in England on Monday April 12.

And as part of the initiative, which first ran last June, Bira members are being offered the opportunity to have their names and business details published in the pages of the Mirror, along with messages to shoppers.

The first Shop For Britain campaign, which received cross-party support, coincided with the reopening of shops last summer after the first lockdown, urging people to shop locally and, whenever possible, buy British, to help businesses start to bounce back.

Gift independents should send their details – name, name of business, location and type of business – along with a message of encouragement for shoppers, and why support is so important, to graham.hiscott@mirror.co.uk

Bira is also working with Mirror’s parent company Reach PLC on its #BackForGood campaign, which is offering a £1m support package to kickstart hard-hit businesses.
