Progressive Gifts & Home October/November Issue Out Now

The October/November issue of Progressive Gifts & Home is available to read now, bursting with insightful news, views and features!  We reveal how the winners of the virtual Greats Awards celebrated their success, unveil a sparkling ‘Christmas Special’ feature, hear from gift retailers during the first week of lockdown 2.0, and also take a look at how global phenomenon Miffy has been celebrating her 65 years of brand heritage!

As we went to press with the October/November issue of Progressive Gifts & Home on November 11, gift retailers were ticking off the first week of lockdown 2.0, with most justifiably annoyed about the government’s definition of ‘non-essential’ shops. Nevertheless, with click and collect allowed, and with the benefit of hindsight, they revealed how they are doing their best to rise to the challenge. (Click through to page 9).

Fortunately, people were out Christmas shopping from early September, with the pre-lockdown splurge significantly boosting October’s retail sales figures. (Source: BRC). We discovered what was ringing up sales for gift shops in our Christmas Special.  (Click through to pages 27-35).

Elsewhere, we reveal how global phenomenon Miffy has been celebrating the brand’s milestone 65th year, which has included the global launch of a limited edition Miffy Fashion Design Collection. We hear more about plans to expand the reach of Miffy through licensed partnerships in the gift and home sector. (Click through to pages 24 and 25).

And finally, a key date for the industry in an extraordinary year were the virtual Greats Awards 2020 held on September 30. Despite not being able to get together physically, everyone was determined to make the most of the occasion, with champagne glasses clinking in shops, offices, restaurants and homes, as the winners were announced.
