Celebrating 90 Years

With ‘Milestones’ among the ranges in the Widdop and Co portfolio, a very special milestone birthday was celebrated by chairman Bob Illingworth yesterday (Sunday February 9).

The occasion was Bob’s 90th birthday, which saw his four sons, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren coming together to celebrate the special day with a family party for ‘grandpa’ held locally in Saddleworth.

Bob, who was one of the original exhibitors at Spring Fair in 1976, started out in the fancy goods industry in 1952, and was instrumental in helping Widdop to evolve from a company selling clocks to one of the leading companies in the home and gift sector.

“Two generations on from my legacy, and in a massively changing world, I’m immensely proud to see what my sons and grandsons are achieving,” Bob told GiftsandHome.net

Originally named Widdop Bingham, the company was founded by William Widdop in Brighouse in 1883 as a  jewellers and watchmakers.
