According to a recent survey, nine out of 10 women (89%) take responsibility for buying and wrapping Christmas presents, with the average Brit spending 111 minutes opening their presents, despite two out of five (39%) parents being woken up by their children before 7am.

Most families (56%) will have finished unwrapping their presents by 11am, with close to three quarters (72%) keeping presents ‘under wraps’, with roughly the same percentage saying that they won’t post them on social media.

The findings by VoucherCode also discovered that the average couple will spend £110.30 on Christmas lunch this year, with turkey (44%), roast potatoes (40%) and stuffing (22%) voted the nation’s favourite parts of the dish.

Home Alone (24%) and Elf (22%) were voted the UK’s favourite Christmas movies, with The Muppet Christmas Carol (21%) voted the worst film. A quarter would like to see Harry Potter (25%) and Toy Story (25%) instead this Christmas.
