Orla Kiely Becomes The Latest Retail Casualty

Fashion and homewares company Orla Kiely, well known for its vintage, 1970’s inspired geometric prints, has ceased trading, following the collapse of parent company Kiely Rowan.

Stores on the King’s Road and Seven Dials in London, as well as in Kildare Village in Ireland, have shut their doors. The company has also closed down its website.

However, Orla Kiely’s home and design licensing business will continue to trade, selling accessories and homewares through distribution partners that include Wild & Wolf.

Last year, although the company’s turnover grew from £7.2m to £8.3m, profits fell from £109,000 to £74,000.

Orla Kiely, whose clients included the Duchess of Cambridge, founded her eponymous company in 1995.

Currently, an exhibition entitled Orla Kiely: A Life In Pattern, is showing at the Fashion & Textile Museum in London. The show features patterns and products from 1990 up to the present time.
