What’s Trending In . . . Jewellery

With the festive season on its way, jewellery will be coming into its own for gift retailers, with tassels, feathers and fringing sitting prettily alongside layering, long earrings and spinning rings. Gold continues to glitter, but watch out for tin as an alternative to silver, as well as semi-precious stones. Star designs too, are shining brightly, as are all things celestial.

This season’s jewellery trend is all about glamour, layering and being bold, so we’ve designed shoulder grazing earrings, playful stud sets and bracelets to layer up with,” says PoM’s director Chris Holden. “Statement necklaces will reboot any wardrobe, and a new spinning rings collection in mixed metals will add warmth and texture.”

At Hot Tomato, creative director Alex Machin highlights the star motif. “It has been a strong influence throughout 2018 and shines brighter than ever for Autumn/Winter,” she emphasises. “Tassels, fringing and ostrich feathers are also in ascendance lending a note of opulence and indulgence to the festive season. Buyers should also watch out for tin – very much like gunmetal – as an alternative finish. It looks stunning when worked with colour and is a refreshing alternative to silver.”

At Joma, marketing manager Sophie Stanton highlights the company’s hero product, the Signature Stones collection. “The bracelets are carefully threaded with colourful semi-precious stones, including rose quartz and amethyst,” she explains. “They feature a golden engraved sentiment bar to make them even more special and are finished with adjustable slider beads for a perfect fit.”
