On The Eco Trail

The Giftware Association’s chairman Jeremy Corner will be curating this year’s eco trail at Top Drawer which takes place at London’s Olympia from September 8-10.

“I am honoured to be curating the eco-trail at Top Drawer which is made up from an exceptional group of suppliers that are leading the way in facilitating this important shift in consumer behavior,” states Jeremy. “The world is rapidly waking up to environmental concerns and the need to consume more consciously. Retailers, suppliers and supply chains are vital to this change, both in the actions they take and the way they share their stories to spread the word and I respect Top Drawer’s decision to recognise and support brands taking action in regard to sustainability. It is certainly reflective of the steps needed to be taken by the industry as a whole.”

He highlights that the number of eco-companies is increasing as are those who are adjusting their current ways of doing things. “People are looking more closely at their supply chains to eradicate or minimise waste,” he told GiftsandHome.net. “It’s absolutely vital that we look closely at what we are doing and make sure that it is as sustainable as possible and that we minimise our impact on the environment. The retail manufacturing industry is the second largest polluter after oil. It’s up to us, within this industry, to be mindful of our impact on the planet. It’s also what consumers are demanding.”

Jeremy, who is managing director of Blue Eyed Sun, and distributor of BambooCup in the UK, recently supported Plastic Free July pledging to give up buying single-use plastic for the entire month of July. A record 320 million people took part this year.
