Having been shortlisted in the Independent Retailer of the Year – Midlands & Wales category at The Greats 2020 last week, there was more good news for Jo Williams, owner of gift shop Joco Interiors in Nuneaton.
The retail entrepreneur was shortlisted for the second consecutive year at the Woman Achieves Woman Who Achieves International Women’s Day event held at the Nuneaton Golf Club.
“As part of the event, the Woman Who Achieves finalists were announced throughout the morning and I was chosen by the judges to be a finalist in the,” Jo told GiftsandHome.net.
She continued: “I was a finalist in the awards last year, receiving a commendation within the Micro Business category, so I was overwhelmed to have been shortlist for the 2020 awards which are fast becoming a well known accolade for women in business and are now in their fifth year.”
The awards event takes place on Friday May 1 at Coombe Abbey Hotel in Coventry, where winners, commendations and finalist awards and certificates will be given out.
On the same day, a Woman Who Achieves book will be launched. “I was invited to write a chapter for the book this year, giving people an insight into what inspired me to start my own business, showing the ups and downs along the way and helping others to see that being in business isn’t always smooth sailing or as easy as some may lead you to believe,” added Jo.
Sandra Garlick, organiser of the Woman Who Achieves Awards, received a very special award herself this year – an MBE for her services to women in the UK.
